Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has said that Safe City is a masterpiece project of modern technology which should be fully utilized in maintaining law and order situation in the city, traffic management and operations against anti-social elements. IG Punjab directed that with the help of Safe City cameras, focus should be kept on monitoring the crime hit areas in different locations of the city and all possible support should be given to the teams deployed in the field for targeted operations to eliminate crimes. Dr. Usman Anwar directed that in view of the recent wave of terrorism, special attention should be paid to the monitoring of the entrances and exits of the city and sensitive installations, especially important roads, sensitive offices, educational institutions, religious & minority worship places.
IG Punjab said that the Safe City Monitoring Officers should ensure effective monitoring of every moment of the situation and also take follow up after informing the patrolling force deployed on field duty. IG Punjab stressed that with effective coordination, street crime, terrorism threats and traffic accidents can be prevented and police timely response can become possible. Dr. Usman Anwar said that every possible support and technical assistance should be provided to the investigating officers from the recorded digital evidence in safe city cameras so that the cases can be brought to a logical conclusion as soon as possible and the criminals can be punished. IG Punjab directed that immediate actions should be taken against the vehicles and drivers violating traffic rules with the help of Safe City cameras. He expressed these views at the Safe City Authority while giving instructions to the staff on the occasion of his surprise visit to Safe City Authority, Qurban Lines. IG Punjab reviewed the working of various branches including CCTV monitoring and Pukar 15 system. The shift-in-charge officers on duty briefed the IG Punjab about the working of various branches.
IG Punjab while giving instructions about the system of calls received on Pukar 15 and their follow up from across province said that citizens calls received on Pukar 15 should be treated with good manners and gentle conversation and their problems should be treated as personal pain and immediate relief should be provided. IG Punjab directed all the staff to work with more hard work, dedication and diligence. He said that in the context of the current situation, they should perform their duties sincerely and with passion of service of humanity and also play their role in effective traffic management and anti-crime mission in Lahore.
