The Meteorological Department has forecasted three to four more monsoon spells entering Pakistan in September, bringing above-average rainfall to several regions, officials said, urging citizens to stay alert and prepared.
Deputy Director Irfan Virk told reporters that north-eastern Punjab, the Potohar region, Islamabad, and southern Kashmir are expected to receive higher than normal rainfall during the upcoming spells this month.
He added that south-eastern Sindh will also witness above-average rains, while the rest of the country is likely to experience normal rainfall levels, providing some relief from recent flooding in affected areas.
Virk explained that no new monsoon spell is expected to impact the upper parts of the country over the next few days, allowing residents in these areas a temporary respite from heavy rains.
However, he warned that after three to four days, a monsoon low is predicted to enter Sindh, producing widespread rainfall across the province and potentially affecting daily life and local infrastructure.
Authorities advised people to remain cautious during these spells, especially in flood-prone areas, and to follow safety guidelines issued by local administrations to reduce risks to life and property.
